10- advanced portfolio

9- individual advanced portfolio

These are the three music videos i have analysed looking at the use of costumes, what they are wear  and how many times they have changed within the music video. Also looked at the use of getting and location how it goes with the costume and where it is based. Both Alicia Keys and Marina have scenes around the house and both have 4-6 outfit changes within the different locations.Whereas Rizzle kicks only have two outfit changes.  We want our artist to have a maximum of 4 outfits that would change according to the location she is in.

Favourite Previous Students Work

This video stood out to me the most as it contained a wide range of different shots throughout the whole music video. This is really important as the aim for all music videos is to keep the audience watching so by having a wide range of shot types it is less likely the audience will get bored of watching. Also this music video was very well filmed and edited.
This music video it is based in a number of locations such as:
- Cemetery

-Middle of the road near a bridge

-House
 - Green area near the 02

There was about four different locations throughout the whole song, these locations suited the lyrics and were very well thought out. They each had two outfit changes and towards the end all wore a black tracksuit.

This is my favourite music video from the students last year as it looks professional and planned out.

Task 8. Previous student video

My favourite student video was produced by group 4. The main elements that appealed to me from their video was their seamless transitions into another shot. For example in the screenshot below, it shows him throwing a bouquet of flowers to the ground which then fades to black and into another shot. They have carefully thought about the positioning of the camera to create different layers in their video so it doesn't appear static. Another positive factor is their locations, especially when the lyrics mention "to the other side" when Joshua points to one side of the road and then to the other, the fact that he is centred between the two sides portrays what the lyrics are trying to explain.

Blog Post 1

Below is a link to the website I created of my favourite artist including interesting information about her - Beyonce Knowles Carter. It was a very interesting task and it helped me: further develop my research skills and to be more creative.

This task will help me when it comes to creating a website for our own artist.

Introduction (Task 1)

Hi, my name is Anisha Ali. The following link is to a website that I've created for an artist.

7- Yougov

Ed Sheeran

Sam smith

Both Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith have the same typical target audience of 18-24 year olds. The genre of there music is pop.

6- laura Mulvey

Representation

Representation consists of many part:
-Gender
 -Age
-Ethnicity
-Place

These variety of different representation that you analysed last year for TV drama.

"In a world ordered by sexual imbalance pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive female. The  determining male gaze project its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly".

The image of an artist (s) in a music video will have been carefully planned; from the choice of clothes and style of hair to the situation or 'narrative' that the artist is placed within.

Laura Mulvey talks about the 'male gaze' in 1975. She believes that in film audiences have to view characters from the perspective of a heterosexual male.

Mulvey also discusses the idea that women are 'dismembered' in all forms of media- that there is a focus, not on women as a whole, but a focus on parts of their body(i.e their body is dismembered). she argues that this is responsible for some women's focus and obsession with specific parts of their bodies.

Mulvey argues that the only way to annihilate the patriarchal Hollywood system is to radically challenge and re-shape the filmic strategies of classical Hollywood with alternative feminist methods.

12 Premiere Pro lip sync video

Using Premiere Pro was challenging at first. In order to have a successful outcome I had to use roughly 5 base tracks. Only 5 base tracks because it was such a short video. Whereas if it was a long music video it would be important to have up to 40 base tracks so you can pick and choose. It'll also prevent you from feeling like you have a limited amount of footage when editing your music video.n Base tracks are important as it allows you to just cut in and cut out any part of the music video. This exercise has prepared me for what I need to do when filming my own music video. The examples of base tracks in which I used in order to edit this music video was: different angles and much more.

3- What is the function of a music video?

What is a music video?
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. It usually accompanied by dancing and visual images interpreting the lyrics.

Main purpose of a music video?
-To sell the song, and create a reaction so it leaves the audience remembering the song
-To give the listener a better understanding of the song
-To promote the single, the album and the artist.
-Marketing for the purpose of exposure and expansion of the artist's profile
-To sell CD's and DVD's to viewers
-To entertain

One example of a successful music video is Michael Jackson 'Thriller' this has been given the title for the world record in 2006 for the 'most successful music video', selling over 9 million.

This music video is 13 minutes and 42 seconds long, this is a great example as it contains a mini story which is aimed to hook the audience. This music video is weird and original which entertains the audience leaving them remembering and talking about the song.
